Millaa Millaa Falls, in the picturesque Atherton Tablelands, is one of the best recognized symbols of North Queensland. Perfectly proportioned, and ringed by tropical rainforest vegetation, it is one of the most visited waterfalls in Australia and is much featured in promotion of the region. Unfortunately it is such a drawcard it requires some protection from the multitude of visitors, and the ground in front of the falls has now been paved to prevent erosion (this photo was taken well before that). In addition, changing rainfall patterns see longer and more frequent periods where the flow of water slows to a trickle, although I do not believe it has ever run dry.
