Australians' love of the beach is world famous, and occasionally we capture an image that encapsulates that fascination. This photo was taken on a hot summer afternoon. A cane fire was burning in the distance, and the sun sinking through the smoke produced this sparkling golden light on the water. The photo was not posed or set up in any way...just beautiful light, and a surfer and a photographer in the right place at the right time.
