PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOPS

After 20 years in Nature Photogaphy, and following the release of
two successful ebooks on photography for beginners,
Andrew Goodall is now taking bookings for
a two-day PHOTOGRAPHY ESSENTIALS workshop!

After selling my first ebook "Photography In Plain English" for several years, and numerous requests for live presentations, I have discovered something I never expected...I enjoy writing and talking about photography almost as much as I enjoy doing it!
What's more, people really want to learn what I have to share!

I have prepared a two-day PHOTOGRAPHY ESSENTIALS workshop for beginners that I know you are going to enjoy.

The workshops include all the theory you need to know when you are first starting out, plus outdoor sessions with plenty of hands-on guidance to put those ideas into action.

The workshops are held in Maleny over Saturday and Sunday,
and include indoor (theory)and outdoor (hands-on) components.

Take a closer look at the class outline to see if the
PHOTOGRAPHY FOR BEGINNERS TWO DAY WORKSHOP
is for you.
Day 1.
Morning Session
(Indoor)
THE PHOTOGRAPHY ESSENTIALS WORKSHOP IS ABOUT PHOTOGRAPHY FOR BEGINNERS
...SO WE START AT THE BEGINNING!
Our first session covers all the essentials so you can switch your camera off automatic and on to manual. You will learn about Aperture, Shutter Speed, Depth of Field, How To Handle Moving Subjects and when to use a tripod. As well as explaining each aspect separately, you will learn how to combine them to get your exposure right and get the effect you want.

Next we look at ISO, and the session finishes with a good look at lenses, explaining what happens to your photo when you zoom in and out. This includes magnification, depth of field and perspective.
Day 1.
Afternoon Session (Outdoor)
After a break for lunch (you will have about an hour to play tourist in Maleny) we head outdoors to practice many of the things we learned in the morning session. The emphasis for this session is not to be artistic, but to try out what you have learned about manual settings using your own camera.
Day 2.
Morning
Session
(Indoor)
Now that you know the basic skills, we start to get a little more creative. Our indoor session looks at composition, and the best ways to use natural light for different subjects. We will take a close look at Rainforest Photography (including Waterfalls), Landscape Photography, Wildlife Photography, with a quick look at Macro Photography and Black & White Photography. These are my areas of expertise, but the principles you learn here can be applied to almost any field of photography.
Day 2. Afternoon Session (Outdoor)
This is where we put it all together. After the lunch break we will spend the afternoon at a scenic location in the Maleny area. You can choose your own subjects, and with tips and guidance from Andrew, practice techniques and get creative with composition. You will have the opportunity to try landscapes, close-ups, and (with a little luck) some wildlife. At day's end you should go home with a head full of ideas and a memory card full of photos!

BUT WAIT...THERE'S MORE!
In addition to a full weekend of tuition, with hands-on practical guidance, each workshop attendee also gets one of Andrew's photography ebooks absolutely free! That means when you go home to practice on your own, you will always have Andrew's tips on hand to refer to.

If you have already bought the ebooks, don't worry -
we have something for you too! Nobody goes home empty-handed.

Improve your camera skills and devolop your creativity!

Almost any camera is capable of taking photos like these...if you know how to use it properly.

The techniques are easy to learn
when they are explained in terms you
can easily understand

Learn how these photos were taken...
by the person who took them!
Don't be fooled into thinking it is all about technology.
Lighting, weather and composition
are just as important. You don't need to be a
technical whiz to become a better photographer!

IMPORTANT!
To get the most out of the Photography Essentials Workshop
you do not need an SLR camera. However, your camera needs to have
a manual mode allowing you to adjust the aperture and shutter speed settings.
This is the case for most digital cameras, but
if you are not sure, I recommend you check your camera and
your user manual before booking a place at the workshop.

Things the PHOTOGRAPHY ESSENTIALS WORKSHOP
DOES NOT COVER:
  • Photoshop, photo editing etc. This workshop is about cameras, not computers. I will show you how to take better photos, not how to fix up your mistakes.
  • Studio lighting and flash photography. These classes are about teaching you to make the most of natural light. I am, after all, a nature photographer. The weekend program is very busy, but there may be time to answer some simple questions on flash photography.

YOU WILL NEED:
  • Your camera, with plenty of space on the memory card.
  • A fully charged battery, and I recommend bringing a spare.
  • Your tripod. If you don't have one, try to borrow one if possible.
  • A hat and effective sun protection.
  • Rain protection for you and your camera.
  • Shoes that you don't mind getting wet or dirty.
  • Food. Coffee and tea will be available at the indoor sessions. You will provide your own lunch. Remember the luch break will be held in Maleny, where there are plenty of cafes and take-aways.

COST
Cost for the PHOTOGRAPHY ESSENTIALS Workshop is
$220.00 per person.
This covers the entire two-day program. Note that lunch is not provided (see above)
but there are plenty of opportunities to buy your lunch in Maleny during the break.

No discounts for multiple bookings. When you see what this workshop offers for the price you will agree that we give exceptional value for money.

This price will not last forever. We are continually told we are charging too little when our workshops offer so much. Inevitably our prices will increase, so book in as early as possible while the prices remain low.

Take a look at the feedback we got from some of the first
PHOTOGRAPHY ESSENTIALS WORKSHOP attendees:
"Andrew is a perfect presenter. Explains things clearly and at a level perfect for my comprehension."

"Overall found the class very beneficial. Thank you."

Your method and mode of teaching is hands on, practical and free of technical gobbldygook --  EXACTLY what most of us would be photographers need.

I  will be recommending you to anyone silly enough to get near me when I have a camera in hand and asking " How did you learn to do that"

"Description & explanation of things was very good...very helpful. You are a great teacher."

"Good fun and a good mix of classroom and outdoors."

"This course gave me a better understanding of...the technical side which has always been daunting to me"

"Gave me a lot of good ideas. I have a greater understanding of my camera."

"I must say I enjoyed your 'easygoing' style of teaching and openness."

"Andrew has a very effective presentation style. He effectively imparts his knowledge in non-technical terms."

BOOKING
Bookings for the PHOTOGRAPHY ESSENTIALS WORKSHOP are taken online from this webpage. This helps us to manage numbers because the automated process does not allow bookings to continue once we reach our maximum number of people.

One person = 1 booking. If you have more than one person coming, enter that number in the quantity section of the online order form. Note that our program offers excellent value for money compared to other courses, so there will be no extra discount for multiple bookings.

There will be no refunds except in the case of extreme bad weather forcing a cancellation of an entire class. This is because I have to pay for a venue and pay staff...even if you don't show up. If you make a booking and cannot make it when the day arrives, we will happily transfer you to the next possible workshop.

Places at the workshop must be paid for in advance to secure your booking. Failure to complete payment within one week of making a booking may result in cancellation of your spot. The website offers several payment options. You can pay by credit card using the highly secure PayPal system, by bank transfer, or by post via cheque or money order.

Why do we require payment in advance? Every workshop in 2009 was sold out, and we have had to turn customers away. We do not want to refuse a customer a booking because it is being held for someone who is not genuinely committed to attending the workshop. Your payment assures us that your booking is genuine.

If you pay by credit card you can complete the payment online when you make the booking. Make sure you continue the process right through to the end to authorise the payment. If you pay by some other method, we will hold the booking for one week only. If payment is not received by that time, your order may be cancelled and the place made available to someone else.

As soon as your booking is confirmed, you will receive an email
with full details of session times, and directions to the indoor venue.

A tax invoice will be sent by email when you make your booking.
